Summary

The #1 New York Times-bestselling sequel to Leigh Bardugo's thrilling Six of Crows。

When you can’t beat the odds, change the game。

Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn't think they'd survive。 But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they're right back to fighting for their lives。 Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope。 As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz's cunning and test the team's fragile loyalties。 A war will be waged on the city's dark and twisting streets—a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world。

Wow, I'm genuinely at a loss for words at how amazingly good this was。 Leigh Bardugo created such an intricate plot with so many twists and turns that I think I got whiplash。 Never underestimate Kaz Brekker and whatever you do never, ever cross Kaz Brekker。 Kaz terrifies me, yet I also love him。 This was perfection。 Wow, I'm genuinely at a loss for words at how amazingly good this was。 Leigh Bardugo created such an intricate plot with so many twists and turns that I think I got whiplash。 Never underestimate Kaz Brekker and whatever you do never, ever cross Kaz Brekker。 Kaz terrifies me, yet I also love him。 This was perfection。 。。。more

There is a reason this book is so highly rated。 I enjoyed the first book but it took me a while to get through。 I loved the characters journey's and the world building。 I cried at the end (if you know, you know)。 It was such a satisfactory end to the characters story。 There is a reason this book is so highly rated。 I enjoyed the first book but it took me a while to get through。 I loved the characters journey's and the world building。 I cried at the end (if you know, you know)。 It was such a satisfactory end to the characters story。 。。。more

This book。。。It bought me too much pain in all possible ways and I can't even describe how much I love that pain。 I'm literally laughing in one moment and the second I would be in tears like FOR REAL tears and my mentally stable facade has then fallen after this book。This is one of the series that I would for real not forget and I would love to read this again and experience it all over。 Not really a spoiler but NINA AND MATTHIAS。 This book。。。It bought me too much pain in all possible ways and I can't even describe how much I love that pain。 I'm literally laughing in one moment and the second I would be in tears like FOR REAL tears and my mentally stable facade has then fallen after this book。This is one of the series that I would for real not forget and I would love to read this again and experience it all over。 Not really a spoiler but NINA AND MATTHIAS。 。。。more

My head has been full of romance because that's all I've been reading lately, so I will admit the first book, Six of Crows, wasn't my cup of tea。 Not because it wasn't well written, it really is, but because it wasn't what I was expecting。 I was expecting a book full of a gang of teenagers doing rowdy things and heavy romance spread throughout。 I was more prepared going in to Crooked Kingdom, and I enjoyed it SO much more。 The plot is engaging, making you try to think what is going to happen nex My head has been full of romance because that's all I've been reading lately, so I will admit the first book, Six of Crows, wasn't my cup of tea。 Not because it wasn't well written, it really is, but because it wasn't what I was expecting。 I was expecting a book full of a gang of teenagers doing rowdy things and heavy romance spread throughout。 I was more prepared going in to Crooked Kingdom, and I enjoyed it SO much more。 The plot is engaging, making you try to think what is going to happen next, thinking you got it, and then Bardugo just blowing the lid on that and showing she is way smarter than you。 Leigh Bardugo could definitely swindle me if we ever met。 This book is very well written and keeps you guessing until the very end。 But if you are looking for a romance book, maybe try something different。 。。。more

HOW DOES IT KEEP GETTING BETTERSix of Crows sets a high bar and this just smashes it。 This book takes what Six of Crows set up so beautifully and builds it all the way up。 I love every character, every plot point, every page。 The ragtag gang of scrapers ready to take on the man is just the perfect book trope。 This book is hefty but so quick to read through。 Every bit of it is action and buildup, and the conclusion is oh so worth it。 6 stars out of 5。

Leigh Bardugo just gets better and better。 This was my favorite out of the Grishaverse books。 The writing is very eloquent, the characters are witty。 Kaz has been my favorite character with his cunning and attitude。 I highly recommend this book (just read Six of Crows first)。

Crooked Kingdom is beyond brilliance。 Leigh Bardugo is one of the premier fantasy writers of our generation, and I am still just completely and utterly stunned at what she has pulled off here—it's beyond even what our ragtag Crows managed to pull off。Normally books tend to be either plot-driven or character-driven, but the best books I find manage to pull both off。 Not only does Bardugo do this here, but she also pulls it off for SIX different characters, where I found myself invested in each mo Crooked Kingdom is beyond brilliance。 Leigh Bardugo is one of the premier fantasy writers of our generation, and I am still just completely and utterly stunned at what she has pulled off here—it's beyond even what our ragtag Crows managed to pull off。Normally books tend to be either plot-driven or character-driven, but the best books I find manage to pull both off。 Not only does Bardugo do this here, but she also pulls it off for SIX different characters, where I found myself invested in each more than the last。 Each of the six brings something different and unique to the table, each with their own backstory and motivations that became more and more interesting the more their layers were peeled back。Then, on top of that, there is a LOT of action and adventure happening here。 Had Bardugo wanted to drag this out a bit more here for the sake of some extra profit *cough, SJM, cough*, she most certainly could have, because Crooked Kingdom moved at breakneck speed。 At a point, though, I wondered whether it was *too* much speed。 One plot after another was hatched, and it somehow both started to feel repetitive while still giving me a bit of whiplash。 Even then, this still felt masterful from Leigh Bardugo, and there honestly isn’t a single thing I’d change about this。If you even REMOTELY like fantasy books, you need to pick this and Six of Crows up。 Now!!! 。。。more

I loved the ending of the duology。 I was left shocked, sad and in love。The twists kept on coming and I was not prepared。

“Fear is a phoenix。 You can watch it burn a thousand times and still it will return。”Now, we can insert again Gimme Gimme by ABBA。I have to warn that the review is full of spoilers, and you never know when or at what point you will find one。 So, if you haven't read the book yet and want to avoid spoilers (like me), read no further。Once again, Leigh Bardugo did it。I must admit that at this point, I've just finished the book and am trying to organize my thoughts through the pain and snot, I'm “Fear is a phoenix。 You can watch it burn a thousand times and still it will return。”Now, we can insert again Gimme Gimme by ABBA。I have to warn that the review is full of spoilers, and you never know when or at what point you will find one。 So, if you haven't read the book yet and want to avoid spoilers (like me), read no further。Once again, Leigh Bardugo did it。I must admit that at this point, I've just finished the book and am trying to organize my thoughts through the pain and snot, I'm still crying and my head hurts from it。The conclusion of Six of Crows came and in splendid fashion。 It's everything I expected and a hell of a lot more。 There are things I didn't even see coming and I loved them。 Once again, I emphasize that Leigh has improved tremendously as a writer and her plots, her writing and her storytelling, grab you from the very first moment。 In any case, I have to say that I am 90% satisfied with the outcome of this duology that stole my heart, my soul, my spirit and my being completely。Kaz plans a final blow, creates a master plan, but not like we saw in Fjerda。 Oh, no。 Now he has a motive to sink Jan Van Eck even deeper: for kidnapping Inej。 And, although Inej is turned over to the others in the first 150 pages, the rest gets more and more interesting。 They're not going to stop there just because Van Eck played a bad trick on them that left them in vulnerable positions。Kaz wants Van Eck to sink into a hole he'll never climb out of again。Okay, that's enough of that。 Let's get down to business。 I won't summarize the book because that's not what I plan to do。I plan to express my thoughts on this masterpiece。I loved it。 From the beginning to the end。 I laughed, I screamed, I cried, I got angry, and most of all, I enjoyed it。 This is the kind of book that I devour in days, that makes me excited enough to stay up late at night reading it。 It's the kind of book that makes my heart flip and then flip back to where it belongs, or where my anxiety is on the edge of the cliff and is about to throw me somewhere。The plot grabbed me, I thought the character development was just right, excellent and well unraveled。 I liked how Leigh explained a lot about the background of the characters through memories and intertwined them with their present actions。 Leigh's writing is divine, it grabbed me and I loved it, I even love her short stories。 Everything about this book delighted, fascinated and thrilled me。When Sturmhond appeared, I cried like a little girl, because I missed him too much, as well as my goddess Zoya and my queen Genya。 I would have liked to see David, but I have enough with them。I forgot to add some things, lmao。Kaz: You fucking little genius。 You got me screaming and so fucking anxious during the entire book, made my heart racing。Inej:Thank you for beating the shit out of Dunyasha, we needed it。 A truly queen who deserves the entire world and being back with her family。Nina: My sweetie pie, I want to protect you from this cruel cruel cruel world and give you all my love。 Also, waking up the dead? A MF QUEEN。 YOU CAN HAVE MY BODY AND MY SOUL TOO。Jesper: A baby。 I wanted to kick him SO bad, but also hug him and tell him that everything was gonna be alright。 His father is so sweet and naive that I must protect him at all cost。Wylan: Hun, you deserve to be happy, be again with your mom (tbh I cried when he found out that his mom was alive), and have all the fucking money that your fucking and ugly father denied you。 My sweet angel。Matthias: I will always love you, my big bear :( I already miss you and know that I cried for you like for two hours, and I'm still crying。 You deserved so mucH MORE AND YOUR DEATH WAS SO INSIGNIFICANT AND RIDICULOUS, I WAS EXPECTING MORE FROM YOUR DEATH, DEAR LEIGH, WHY???? I'M PISSED OFF, BUT I'M STILL LOVE MY BIG TULIP BOY。Leigh: thank you for giving me so much in so little and spare my life for taking so long。 Also, Leigh: I will never forgive you for what you did to my sweet Matthias。 He was my favorite in this bilogy and you ripped him from me like he was my own heart。 Chapter 40 took away any hope of life I had。I have nothing else to say, and if I do, I will probably edit this review to add more positive things of this masterpiece, but for now, my 5 stars and my broken and bleeding heart for Matthias Benedik Helvar say it all。my current mood right now: 。。。more

I have mixed feelings about this book。 Burdago is clearly a talented author and a master of developing characters。 That being said, she unfortunately chose to lard this story with themes of token sodomy。。。 Maybe pedophilia or bestiality is next? Every time I read one of Leigh Bardugo’s books I think it’s the best one yet and I don’t know how another one could top it。 Well Crooked Kingdom kept that streak going。 It is the best of the five of hers I have read。 The storytelling is gorgeous, the characters are amazing。 Every time I thought there was no way out and they were all doomed, I was surprised by a new twist and a new plan even more brilliant than the last。 I laughed and I cried。 This book is amazing。

The fact that I didn't like this series the first time around astounds me。 These are so good!!
